Nissan Extended Service Plan Inspection

Effective April 1st, 2010

Nissan is now requiring all vehicles to have a vehicle inspection completed during the application process. Any required reconditioning must be performed under the Nissan factory warranty or at the expense of the customer. Like most service contracts, the vehicle must also have satisfactory records showing that the vehicle was maintained according to the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule.

Why is this important?

If you were to purchase a Security+Plus plan without the above:

  • Any claim within 90 days would automatically get flagged within Nissan's system and they would be able to deny the claim and potentially cancel the policy if all the supporting documenatation is not on file
  • Any pre-existing problem with your vehicle found during inspection, not repaired at that time, would result in a denied claim
  • Any mechanical breakdown claim that was determined to result from improper maintenance would result in a denied claim

Our Advice

The vehicle inspection is not difficult to have completed, in fact it is quite simple. You can download the form by following this link:

If during the inspection process, the Nissan service department finds items that need to be replaced make sure they are replaced under your existing factory warranty. Do not wait until your factory warranty is on the verge of expiring. If already expired, make sure to fix the items found during the inspection to ensure future coverage of those components.
